Listened to this on audio with my 9 and 12 year old and we loved it! Red (a giant red oak tree) narrates this funny and heart-warming story that is also laced with drama. We loved the cast of animal characters and their laugh-out-loud naming conventions. As a parent I also appreciated the many educational facts that Applegate squeezes in about trees and different animal species. Enjoyable by kids and parents: Yes Offensive Language: No (unless you consider "buttinsky" offensive) Violence: No Adult Concepts: Yes - racism Age Range: 6 and up
